“Every series has its start, but it’s not always the beginning.”
As writer such words are hard to remember; as reader such words often muddy what is actually going on. It’s hard to convey correctly the costs and weight of a story when its backstory is so huge.
And for the Grand Series–it’s huge.
Most of Act I focuses on the Realm of Remedii where the Grand Mall is. Where Carls Locke is from. But the events befalling it are leaks from other realms, thus far encompassing Euphora, the Nim Realm, Henser chambers, and New Tarnor. As noted in Fauldon’s Dream and the Karier of the Task, this “portrait” of realms is of countless puzzle pieces all fitting together perfectly.
And no, the “a great imbalance in the realms threatens the very reality and existence of everything” plot is not what this series is.
No. That, if anything, is but one of the many, many, many doors leading through this grand hallway and to its end: a final door.
So why Act I? Why Parts I, II, III, IV, etc.?
The Grand series is so huge it’s one of the only ways I could think of putting it. “Act I” entail four core books. Along with them, however, are other books, presently being three, that will weave a bigger scope of everything essential happening in the other realms. Euphora sparked much interest, thus Fauldon’s Dream was written. Now Fauldon’s Dream has a sequel to release between book two and three of the core series.
There will always be more after Act I as time has not ended–just as there has been so much more pre- Act I as time did not start with Part I. But the tales from old Taylor Tarnor, the Arc Wars, the Stockwell Case, etc. are essential to the histories but not the first book.
Then what goes down in Part I of Act I? Why not just Part I of Book I?
Because “Book II” picks up with Part V. And it’s gorgeous. So is VI. And, as of the posting of this post, said parts will be published as “parts” through another designated publisher instead of waiting for the whole of “Book II” to be completed.
“Book II” does, however, also encompass four parts. Once they have all released independently in ebook form, they will be repackaged in hard copy as: The Grand Illusion (Parts V-VIII), aka “Book II”.
Better yet, Parts V-VIII of Act I.
Man I would love to talk more on how stoked I am for the Grand Illusion but it is forthcoming! And I am stoked about releasing more meaty content for beloved readers in shorter bursts rather than the multitude of time it takes for me to write between work, family, recharging, etc.
You guys are awesome! Seriously, I am indebted to the awesomeness of YOU and look forward to keeping the content coming for you.
As always, reviews speak unfathomable volume. Not simply to me, though. While I do love reading them, I know how much more appreciated they are as a onlooker. When I’m looking at anything to buy, I look to reviews. You’re feedback will help those looking for what others have to say.
For authors, word of mouth is great, but word of eye is better xD
